10 years of service to the MOT industry
Trained to succeed!
VOSA looks favourably upon stations that invest in more training than the minimum required. It believes that if you’re taking money from the MoT scheme, you should also put some back in.

Training makes good economic sense:

It ensures that your staff and your station can cope with ever-changing industry regulations and requirements.
It can increase your company’s efficiency, output and - most importantly - your profits.
It reduces the likelihood of costly mistakes that could threaten your authorisation (and which often result in costly representations to VOSA).

CVTS has been delivering no-nonsense, easy to understand training courses to the MoT industry since 1998. Our trainers are all qualified, nominated testers. We know what you need to hear and we know how to explain it.

Our courses are current, up to date and relevant. Unlike other organisations that offer training, we operate our own MoT station - so we practice what we preach!

Courses available from CVTS include:
QC Course

Duration
One Day (Classroom based)

Aim
To advise the QC of his responsibilities and duties when quality -controlling nominated testers.

Content
The course covers the assessment of testing procedures; the use of VTS reports to highlight issues not visible on a practical test; and the correct assessment of testable items. It includes a practical workshop demonstration and covers the revision of Section B6 of the 6th Edition of the MoT testing guide. It also explains the method of inspection used to examine components and the legal requirements.

Assessment
A report on the QC will assess his suitability to carry out his duties. This will be made available to the AE.

NTTA Training

Duration
Two Days (Classroom based)

Aim
To ascertain the candidate's level of knowledge and understanding of Motor Vehicle Technology.

Content
The course will cover wheels, tyres, emissions, brakes, steering, suspension, electronics and body. It will also help candidates to correctly read, evaluate and understand the questions used by VOSA. Text books and supporting material will be used during and after the course.

Assessment
Candidates will be given an exam to identify any possible weaknesses, and advice on future revision to eliminate any shortcomings. Authorised examiners will be given a report and breakdown that outlines the candidate's chance of passing the VOSA exam.

Risk Assessment

Duration
Two Days (Station based)

Aim
To advise the AE or responsible person about VOSA's next round of risk assessments.

Content
The course will cover all issues relating to the station's requirements. Our Risk Assessment Advisor will spend one morning carrying out a complete survey (as conducted by a VE). One afternoon will be spent with a CVTS Advisor, who will report his findings, highlight any areas of concern and recommend any actions that need to be taken. CVTS will supply a station log and will help your station to complete this to VOSA requirements.

Assessment
The CVTS Advisor will revisit the station with any updates and will check whether his advice has been acted upon. He will also help if there's a shortfall.

Contact us
We are writing to express our appreciation of the NTTA training you carried out for two of our employees. Both went on to pass the VOSA exam.
Having paid for your risk assessment QA programme, I am writing to say the thoroughness of your training advisor was commendable and his advice was invaluable. I now feel more in control.
